EnburyScale: 'N'. Layout Size: 12ft x 2ft Layout Plan |
'Enbury' was started as a junior members' layout, but was completed as a layout for all members to run any 'N' gauge stock they own. It is set 'somewhere in Britain' and is not intended to represent any particular location. Completion of the layout's scenery was greatly assisted by the donation of a considerable amount of material and a good many buildings by Bob Marshall, a former member of the club, on his departure from Edinburgh.
The apparently rural scene is deceptive. Like a good many stations in Britain, this one was built outside the town it was intended to serve (presumably to be closer to the railway!). The station still possesses its goods yard, which in pre Beeching days would have been the domain of the pick-up goods and later, if it survived at all, possibly a site for the storage of engineers materials.
